![]() are BOTH of these BFG R/T tires.simply put. the "Rugged Terrains" actually "look" much more like a "street" tire, while the "Rugged Trails" look "similar" to the BFG A/T(All Terrains). while the other has "solid" white letters! Other than that. WHAT'S THE FLIPPIN' DIFFERENCE?!!! About the only difference "I" can see is. 2 BFG R/T's!? One is a "Rugged Terrain" (like what came on my TRD DC), and the other is a. as a "stock" OEM tire?! After reading your post. I was under the impression that there was only " ONE" BFG R/T, which TS members were complaining about. I have a 2" Cornfed front lift, and while the wider size will fit on the stock TRD 5-spoke rims, I have read other posts where they will rub on the upper control arms. ![]() I even bet Big O would be willing to test install a 285/75 just so I can see where it will rub. (I was considering installing this size on my truck and going through Costco!) Since Big O Tire has BFG AT KO's for the same price (fall sale), and I'm sure less hassles, I plan to go through them. I'm surprised that 265/75's fell into this category since they're only slighlt talelr. However, their total price includes mouting and balancing, so going somewhere else would probably negate the price savings. Now, for price savings, you could purchase the tires (most of the time you need to order them online anyway), pick them up and then have then installed somewhere else. They will not install larger than stock tires for liability reasons. Yes, this is SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for Costo. I also think Costco is staffed by morons. Has anyone else had a problem with Costco? My guess is that they're overstocked with BFG Rugged Trails and they need to move them. And true to their word, the things don't rub a bit. In fact, I went to three different Schwab dealerships and every single one said 265/75s would be fine.no rubbing, no safety problem. Since I needed tires in a hurry I ended up going to Les Schwab where I bought a set of 265/75 Open Country load rated truck tires. ![]() When I call the next day to make sure the tires are still in stock, the dork tells me his supervisor won't let him put them on because they "once put them on a Tundra and they rubbed" and because the tire "isn't recommended." The Albany Costco tire department was even more adamant in refusing to install the tire, saying they would be unsafe on my truck. Like an idiot I hold off on installation until the next day because of a time crunch. When I tell him I want real truck tires and not a set of crappy Rugged Trails or other inadequate passenger tires, he begrudgingly relinquishes on the 265/75 BFG KOs. No, says the tire guy, that size "isn't a recommended size for the Tundra." Well, then what other truck tires do you have in 265/70 size? The goofus points to a stack of BFG Rugged Trails and some other 4 ply non-load rated passenger tires. Unfortunately, the store didn't have them in 265/70/16s but they did have them in 265/75/16. So I go to Costco in Salem, OR with the intention of buying the BFG AT KOs. Not surprising considering everyone's experience with that tire. Last week one of my tires (BFG Rugged Trail OEM crap) separated at the 29,000 miles.
